The local court has remanded Shabbir, the leader of a district level group involved in power theft that was caught red handed in the jurisdiction of the Khurrianwala police station, till May 28th. On his identification 8 more FIRs have been registered against electricity thieves in Faisalabad & Jhang. Shabbir was found involved in heavy power theft through installation of shunt in electricity meters and reverse of meters in FESCO (Faisalabad) and LESCO (Lahore) region.
Electrician Shabbir rented houses in different cities and tempered the electricity meters for the purpose of electricity theft. He travelled in his own vehicle in FESCO (Faisalabad) & LESCO Lahore region for tempering electricity meters. FESCO special task force caught him red handed while he was reversing meter in the area of Khurrianwala police station and seized a mobile phone and diary from his custody and obtained important information through mobile & diary about LESCO (Lahore) officials and their backers involved in this practice.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) FESCO Mujahid Islam Billah provided the information to CEO LESCO. On this CEO LESCO (Lahore) initiated strict action and suspended 25 officials and officers of LESCO region and started investigation against them while more discourse are expected about LESCO officials involved in electricity theft.
Federal Minister for Energy Umer Ayub and Secretary Power Division has declared it a great achievement against power theft and appreciated the efforts of CEO FESCO and his team. CEO FESCO Mujahid Islam Billah has expressed his determination that special campaign against power theft would continued till the complete elimination of electricity theft from FESCO.
