This is apropos a Business Recorder op-ed "IK's political brand is evolving" carried by the newspaper yesterday. The writer, Farooq Hassan, seems to have delineated the broad outlines of IK's life in a highly interesting manner. He has heaped a lot of praise on all the IK brands.
According to him, for example, "In 15 years of international cricket, IK emerged as a premium sporting brand. He could bring the crowd on its feet at the Oval or Lords. In the era, there were other great cricketing brands like Brian Lara, Viv Richards, Sachin Tendulkar, etc. IK equalled them. Of course he never became as rich as Roger Federer or Tiger Woods. In those days, sponsorships and endorsements were scarce..."
IK was a huge success as far as his cricketing career was concerned. Insofar as his premiership is concerned, he has increasingly turned himself into a 'U-turn man'.
He has recently shuffled his batting order by inducting new players (talesmen) in his team to push the products, but they too will be taking too much time to learn the ropes.
