Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is seeking support of Lb Tech International Indonesia for capacity building of the System of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (KP-STVET) and for upgrading of laboratories. It was revealed at the 13th meeting of the Board of Directors of KP-TEVTA held at the Chief Minister's House, here.
KP CM Mahmood Khan presided over the meeting. Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Shehzad Bangash, Principal Secretary to the CM, Shahab Ali Shah, BoD members, administrative secretaries and other officials attended the meeting. Under the programme, a six-month training will be imparted in electrical, electronics, auto-mechanics, HVACR and IT sectors while another project is also being initiated for establishing contacts with the Malaysian technical university.
It will prove helpful in bringing improvement in syllabus, enhancement of training quality, procedure for implementation of policy, capacity building and expertise. The programme will not put any financial burden on the provincial government. Therefore, the meeting formally approved both programmes and directed provision of opportunities to the trainers of the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WCCI).
The meeting approved the minutes of the last meeting and recommendations of the committee constituted for giving final shape to the reviewed TVET Regulations 2019 and scrutiny of other matters.
In light of recommendations of the committee, the meeting approved draft amendments to the TEVTA Regulations 2019. The meeting also approved, in principle, the monitoring of the TEVTA affiliated organisations, projects and strategic support unit. However, after expiry of the agreement period of TEVTA monitoring by KP-STEVT, it decided handover of the strategic monitoring and evaluation process to strategic support unit.
The meeting also approved the establishment of job-placement and vocational counselling offices at Timergara, Swat, Mardan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Pattan (Kohistan), Kohat and Bannu. For this purpose, it also approved vacancies of grade-17 Job Placement and Counselling Officers. He directed funds required for the timely completion of ongoing projects of TEVTA initiated under the annual development programme (ADP) 2018-19 as soon as possible. The meeting also approved the reviewed budget for financial year 2018-19.
