The political parties Wednesday vowed to stand by the Pakistan Armed Forces and said that they have the right to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly and president Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Shahbaz Sharif said that India provoked Pakistan, adding that the country's Armed Forces are capable of defending its frontiers.
The opposition leader's statement comes after Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down two Indian aircraft inside Pakistani airspace earlier on Wednesday and arrested an Indian pilot on ground.
"India provoked Pakistan and Pakistan has right and is capable of defending its frontiers. The international community should also take notice of Modi Sarkar's aggressions and brutalities in occupied Kashmir, taking lives of innocent civilians for its petty political gains," Shahbaz tweeted.
Co-Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari said that India has violated Pakistani airspace; hence, the country has a right to defend itself. "We have never given up the option of peace," said Zardari, adding that Modi's warmongering attitude poses a threat to the region.
Spokesman for Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said that Modi wants to contest election at the borders but it will cost him heavily.
In a statement Senator Khokhar said that the international community should stop Modi from his misadventure which is disturbing peace of the region. Pakistan has the right to defend itself from Indian aggression. Bringing down Indian fighter planes proves that Pakistani Armed Forces and the nation are well able to protect every inch of the country.
The entire nation is standing shoulder-to-shoulder with brave Pakistani soldiers, he added.
Finance Minister Asad Umar also reacted and tweeted, ""I hope there are no questions left about Pakistan's capability and will to defend itself now. Hope the sane voices in India will be able to stop Narendra Modi's mad attempt to pitch two nuclear nations in a conflict that no sane person can want."
"India will get a response. The time and manner of response will be chosen by Pakistan. Indian citizens must understand that their prime minister is putting Indian citizens in the harm's way for political gains by initiating a conflict India cannot win," he also tweeted.
Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari said in a tweet, "Prime Minister Imran Khan had warned India if they attack we will not think of responding, we will respond. Instead of asking for sanity and condemning India's dangerous brinkmanship, some in the international community applauded India for its attack on Tuesday. We have the right to respond in self-defence and we did."
"Our timing and our choice of operation-Now UNSC and India's applauders can push for sanity to prevail in a nuclear neighborhood or continue applauding and encouraging Indian brinkmanship," she added.
While lauding the PAF, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq said: "Every single person is determined and standing behind the Armed Forces." He said that Pakistan's retaliatory action to India's war hysteria is in accordance with the nation's expectations.
Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that the entire nation is prepared to respond to Indian aggression. "India will have to pay heavily if it engages in aggression," he added.
