The tax directory issued by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for Tax Year 2017 Friday revealed the names of top corporate taxpayers, including Habib Bank Limited (HBL) with Rs 16,764,766,583, followed by Muslim Commercial Bank (MCB), Rs 12,330,071,739, and United Bank Limited (UBL), Rs 11,805,847,804.
Among other top taxpayers in banking sector included Bank Al-Habib Limited with tax payment of Rs 4,820,352,266, Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited (Rs 3,772,442,829), Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited (Rs 2,986,661,603), Meezan Bank Limited (Rs 2,618,626,792), Bank Alfalah Limited (Rs 2,018,883,933), Citi Bank NA (Rs 1,811,204,257), Sindh Bank Limited (Rs 1,564,976,608), Faysal Bank Limited (Rs 1,261,084,402), The Bank of Khyber (Rs 1,246,756,954), Soneri Bank Limited (Rs 1,173,094,578), The Bank Of Punjab (Rs 1,061,456,315) and Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited (Rs 2,686,669,223).
In oil and gas sector, highest tax payer is Pakistan State Oil Company Limited (Rs 10,146,112,607), Pak-Arab Refinery Limited (Rs 10,128,010,052), Oil And Gas Development Company Limited (Rs 4,441,664,242), Byco Petroleum Pakistan Limited (Rs 356,731,072), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (Rs 1,908,786,423), Mari Petroleum Company Limited (Rs 1,774,386,171) and Eni Pakistan Limited (Rs 1,267,837,795).
In gas sector Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) paid an amount of Rs 1,144,386,888 tax.
Top tax companies in cement sector includes Lucky Cement Limited (Rs 4,561,976,425), Bestway Cement Limited (Rs 3,744,996,621), Maple Leaf Cement Factory Limited (Rs 1, 948,957,043), Kohat Cement Company Limited (Rs 1,818,810,905), Fauji Cement Company Limited (Rs 1,442,476,223) and Pioneer Cement Limited (Rs 1,116,419,715).
In aviation sector, Civil Aviation Authority paid Rs 8,837,740,496 tax in year 2017.
In pharmaceutical sector, top tax payers includes Abbott Laboratories Pakistan Limited (Rs. 1,626,721,750), Glaxo SmithKline Pakistan Limited (Rs1,579,128,449), Novartis Pharma (Pakistan) Limited (Rs 1,272,598,125) and Getz Pharma (Private) Limited (Rs 1,227,729,509).
In energy sector, top tax payers are Kot Addu Power Company Limited (Rs 5,075,924,556), Bowenergy Resources (Pakistan) SRL (Rs 3,212,737,182) and United Energy Pakistan Limited (Rs 2,793,539,741).
In food and beverages, top tax payers include Nestle Pakistan Limited (Rs 4,853,299,432), Unilever Pakistan Limited (Rs 3,636,308,483), Pepsi-Cola International (Pvt) (Rs 2,189,525,170), Tetra Pak (Pakistan) Limited (Rs 2,529,342,996), and Colgate-Palmolive (Pakistan) Ltd (Rs 1,623,246,097), Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited (Rs 1,586,512,712), Tapal Tea (Private) Limited (Rs 1,458,098,337) and Engro Food Limited (Rs 1,146,409,589).
In auto sector, top tax payers include Indus Motor Company Limited (Rs 5,410,737,730), Honda Atlas Cars Limited (Rs 2,333,455,983) and Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (Rs 1,547,032,611).
In insurance sector, top tax payers include EFU General Insurance Limited (Rs 1,082,991,121), General Electric International Inc (Rs 1,090,508,416) and Jubilee Life Insurance Company Limited (Rs 998,192,369).
In communication sector top tax payers are Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (Rs 5,017,683,047), Telenor Pakistan (Private) Limited (Rs 4,927,065,380), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (Rs 3,196,045,347) and Huawei Technologies Pakistan (Private) Limited (Rs1,762,954,955).
Other companies which are top tax paying companies include Unilever Overseas Holding Limited (Rs 1,051,809,470), Bestway Holdings Limited (Rs 1,395,905,995), Habib Construction Services Limited (Rs 1,199,285,540), China Communications Construction Company Limited (Rs 1,757,925,881), Descon Engineering Limited (Rs 1,087,263,563), Merck International GMBH (Rs 1,080,415,698), Karachi International Container Terminal Limited (Rs 1,768,875,003), Pakistan Tobacco Company Limited (Rs 4,551,738,053), Shirazi Investment (Private) Limited (Rs1,175,016,196), Thal Limited (Rs1,227,079,292), Pakistan International Container Terminal Limited (Rs 1,412,421,334), Government Holdings (Private) Limited paid Rs 8,457,194,185, Port Qasim Authority (Rs 1,501,466,858) and Qasim International Container Terminal Pakistan Limited (Rs 1,872,931,260) and Fauji Fertilizer Company Limited (Rs 2,564,025,879).
