Standing Committee on House & Works urge to ensure residential facilities to public in Balochistan

QUETTA: Standing Committee for Housing and Works Chairman, Senator Mir Kabir Muhammad Shai Monday said citizens including employees should be provided residential facilities in government housing schemes.

He said this while presiding over a meeting in Chief Secretary Office at Civil Secretariat in Quetta.

Senators including Sardar Yaqoob Khan Nasir, Mirza Afridi, Bhar Mand Khan Tangi, Brigadier (Retd.)  Jawin Kant Valium, Sardar Shafiq Tareen and officials of Housing Ministry attended the meeting.

Chairman Housing & Works Mir Kabir Muhammad Shai said no body would be allowed to occupy official property but Quetta’s population has exceeded 30 million people. Citizens should be provided facilities of government Resident Schemes for decreasing burden of city.

He marked Kuchlak Housing Scheme has been started in 2008 but it has not been finalized yet, saying that in this regard no any negligence would be tolerated and directed related authorities to provide reports to committee members regarding this housing scheme in next committee for ensuring its renovation.

Senator Mir Kabir asked officials to complete inquiry of Quetta water supply project cast of Rs, 8 billion in General Musharraf’s regime which report would be presented in coming meeting.

Managing Director of Federal Housing Scheme briefed the meeting, said measures are being taken to provide facilities to people in federal housing schemes.

He said 86 acres of housing scheme was planned in Kuchlack but only 46 applications were received in first year due to this scheme was under pending. He said plan was made to build 1000 houses in Kuchlak Scheme in four categories.

Chairman Standing Committee, Senator Mir Karbir directed related officials to publish advertisement regarding project so that citizens of Quetta including government employees can be taken opportunities of residential amenities in the area.

Committee was also informed that 70 percent of federal housing scheme at Sariab was occupied by personnel Balochistan Constabulary.

For this regard, concerned official was directed to take strict measures to remove encroachments of federal schemes by Chairman Standing Committee Mir Kabir Muhammad Shai.

He also instructed Managing Director of WASA Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Qambarani to submit report regarding Quetta Water Supply project cost of Rs 8 billion in upcoming meeting and to ensure supply of water to public in respective areas.

Earlier, Chairman along with other members of Standing Committee inspected Kuchlak Housing Scheme, Federal Lodges and other housing schemes.
