Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said Monday some people were "doing politics of Sindh and Pakistan" as a shield to hide their misdeeds. In a statement, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said "Neither centre nor any federal institution has attacked Sindh. Invaders are those who have encroached lands and resources of Sindh".
Strongly responding to Pakistan People's Party (PPP)-led Sindh government for "creating hurdles" in the Karachi operation and employing delaying tactics on the issue of Rangers, the interior minister clarified that the government will not allow any attempts to undermine the ongoing operation in Karachi or the sacrifices of Rangers. Nisar said that when someone questions Sindh government's performance they term it "an attack on Sindh".
He said that the Sindh government was not extending Rangers' powers with a view to "hampering the Karachi operation to save just one man". The interior minister added without naming anyone: "I don't know how deep your ties are with him. How far can a party or a government go for one person?"
Nisar said that Sindh government is not spending even a single penny on the Sindh Rangers; all the expenses of the Rangers are being borne by the federal government, which amounts to Rs 9 billion annually. He added that this amount does not cover the expenditures of intelligence agencies in Sindh, which are being paid by the center separately. He said that books could be written on 'actions' undertaken by corrupt elements in Sui Gas, PIA and other institutions. "Those who have occupied Sindh's resources are the ones attacking it by devouring its resources like termite," he added.
The interior minister said he does not want to talk about his own character as everyone knows it well. On one hand, they criticise the government in the National Assembly and on other hand, they request for recruitments, transfers, extensions, perks and privileges and other benefits, adding that all this reminds him of Ayub Khan's tenure where some people were against the government as well as they were also with the government for the sake of their own benefits. He said that during PPP regime, despite having close ties, he never met the then premier Gilani or Raja Pervaiz Ashraf for personal gains and both of them know this well.
