The International Green Economy Association (IGEA), China on Wednesday made some inquiries about the development projects approved under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Chinese think tank wrote a letter to Board of Investment (BoI) through Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and asked certain queries. The Board has forwarded these queries to Planning, Development and Reforms for a response:
Is there a general co-ordinator in the bid invitation projects to co-ordinate the Pakistan resources and the development of China-Pakistan cooperation? Whether the central government endorses the Pakistan international bid invitation projects or not? Which form of endorsement is there? How about the tax revenue and system in Pakistan? How much is the basic rate of taxation?
Which preferential duties will be enjoyed by Chinese funded enterprises in Pakistan?
Whether the Pakistan government provides relevant financial support for the PPP and BOT contract co-operated with the government?
Which financial service strategies provided by Pakistan banks will support the development of projects?
Which measures will be used to guarantee adequate power supply for running factories in Pakistan?
Which third party guarantee measures will be provided for Chinese investors in the bidding cooperation projects in Pakistan?
An insider said that a Chinese think tank recommends the state-owned Chinese Companies on investment and their recommendations are considered very important in China.
IGEA is a non-governmental organisation with a mission to promote sustainable development and green growth. Headquartered in Beijing, the association is the gateway for foreign cleantech companies to China's green business and environmental market.
