American Consul General Lahore Zachary Harkenrider and Chinese Consul General Yu Boren met Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan here Wednesday separately. The Provincial Minister informed both the diplomats about reforms introduced in Education Department and the steps taken in the province with regard to Sports, Youth Affairs, Archaeology and Tourism. The diplomats appreciated the performance of Punjab government in education and health sectors.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that Punjab Education Department through Educational Endowment fund has equipped 100,000 poor but talented children with modern education. He said that the Chief Minister has recently announced an increase of four billion rupees in the fund of 14 billion rupees and set the target of enrolment of 100,000 more children within a year. He said that due to state-of-the-art project like Danish schools and Lahore Knowledge Park, the performance of Education Department Punjab has touched the international standard. He said that holding of Punjab Youth Festival in sports sector, launching of first Tourists Double Decker Bus service of the country under Tourism Department and the measures taken for conservation of Harrapa and other historical sites in archaeology sector are important features of about performance of provincial departments running under his minister-ship.
