The Met Office on Monday forecast widespread rain-thundershowers for upper Punjab in the next 48 hours with warning of floods in urban parts of the province. It said that widespread rain-thundershower with scattered heavy falls in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Norowal, Lahore, Sheikpura, Kasur and Okara districts are expected in the next 48 hours. It warned that heavy falls may generate urban flooding in Lahore, Gujranwala and Sialkot districts.
In the next 24 hours, it said that widespread rain-thundershower was expected in Lahore, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Hazara divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir. Scattered heavy falls is expected in Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Shiekhpura, Kasur and Okara districts.
Rain-thundershower is expected at scattered places in Sargodha, Sahiwal, Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat and Mardan divisions, FATA, while at isolated places in Faisalabad, Multan, D.G.Khan, D.I.Khan and Zhob divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan. "Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan with its trough extending south-eastwards. Monsoon currents are penetrating into central and upper parts of the country and expected to strengthen from tonight and likely to continue during next few days," it said.
Maximum rainfall was recorded in Murree 56 mm, Sialkot (Airport) 51 mm, Sialkot Cantonment 42 mm, Garhi Dupatta 27 mm each, Raalakot 26 mm, Balakot 21 mm, Kotli 18 mm, Kakul 16 mm and Muzaffarabad 13 mm in the last 24 hours. Turbat and Dalbandin were the hottest parts of the country with 43 degrees Celsius, Sibbi, Moenjodaro, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sukkur 45°C each, Rohri and Larkana 44°C each.
Weather in Karachi is expected to remain partly cloudy and windy with chances of light rain/drizzle during night/morning. Temperature is expected between 33 degree and 35 degree with 65-75 percent humidity. Heat index is expected to show 41 degrees. Hot/very hot and dry/windy weather is likely to prevail in other parts of province. However, light rain/drizzle is expected in coastal areas.
