Due to two days hot weather forecast by the Met Department, the Ministry of Water and Power has advised the electricity consumers across the country to adopt electricity conservation measures and specially minimise usage of Air Conditioners to avoid forced load shedding due to increase in demand. The weather has been forecast as severe hot for next 48 hours in most parts of the country due to which the electricity consumption is also expected to rise.
It is important to note that the power sector is already generating record electricity and is managing the demand and supply gap by load shedding schedule of 6-hour urban, 8-hour rural and 8-hour industrial. During Sehr, Iftar and Tarawee timings most parts of the country are being exempted from load shedding. The excessive use of Air Conditioners can rise the demand for electricity, especially at the time of Iftar, Tarawee and Seheri timings. The ministry has also issued special directions to the Distribution Companies to form special teams for quick response in case of local faults.
