The Supreme Court on Thursday adjourned hearing of a petition seeking contempt of court proceeding against former interior minister Rehman Malik for two weeks. A three-member bench headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa resumed hearing of the petition filed by Syed Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi. During the course of the proceedings, the court asked Rehman Mailk to file an application regarding his objections over the petitioner.
Senator Rehman Malik apprised the bench that the petitioner (Naqvi) was booked in several criminal cases, adding that the cases were registered in Karachi. He informed the court that Naqvi had been banned from entering the premises of Sindh High Court (SHC). He said that Naqvi was a blackmailer. Malik further pleaded in the apex court that investigation would be carried out against those who are providing undue favour and shelter to people like Naqvi.
He urged the bench to ban Naqvi's entry in the apex court for wasting court important time through frivolous litigations. However, Naqvi while appearing before the bench rejected all the allegations and objections of Malik. Later, the court adjourned proceeding for two weeks.
