The Vice President of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi has urged the government to allow duty free import of raw material for high carbon steel wires industry as existing five to 10 percent duty is too high and causing multiple problems. He stated this while talking to a delegation of All Pakistan High Carbon Steel Wires Manufacturers Association here on Thursday. Fawad Shamsi, Imran Khan and other members of the delegation also spoke on the occasion.
He said high carbon steel is being used in construction industry, bridges, spring industry, auto sector and many other purposes therefore government should take immediate measures to save this industry. He suggested that import duty should be zero on raw material of high carbon steel wires industry as it is not being produced locally. He further said that there is a same HS code for high carbon steel and low carbon steel which should be separated.
