Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) on Wednesday announced the results of First Year (Humanities Group) annual examination, 2014 for both private and regular candidates. Sharing the details of these results, Controller Examination BIEK, Mohammad Imran Khan Chisti said that the pass percentage of regular candidates (who cleared all six papers) was 43.7 percent compared to 40.71 percent of the private candidates.
On this occasion students appreciated the efforts of Controller Examination to announce results timely that helped them to start preparation for upcoming exams. It is pertinent to mention here that BIEK has announced the intermediate results before the scheduled dates.
Talking to Business Recorder, Chisiti said BIEK is endeavouring to make the examination process more transparent. Engineering and medical universities have also lauded the BIEK for declaring early results this year, that help the universities to announce timely admissions for medical and engineering students. According to the statistics, 10646 candidates were registered as regular candidates and 7624 as private candidates for intermediate part-I exams. Of those registered as regular candidates, 1242 boys and 9019 girls appeared in the exams.
For private candidates, 7624 were registered for the exams while 7187 appeared, including 2900 boys and 4287 boys. The BIEK withheld result of 16 boys and 13 girls for want of correct information or necessary documents. The number of UFM reported during examination was nine. According the controller examination a judicious procedure was observed to decide all such cases. He said every effort is made to provide fair opportunity of personal appearance, hearing and defence to all candidates involved in such cases. "Results of all candidates involved in UFM are withheld till the final decision is approved by Board of Governance," he added.
