After summoning Pakistan's deputy high commissioner in New Delhi to lodge a 'strong protest' against the adjournment of the on-going Mumbai attack trial, a top Indian diplomat raised the issues with the Foreign Office on Friday, who too was reminded of the delay in Samjhuta Express terror probe.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam, Indian deputy high commissioner raised the Mumbai trial issue with Pakistan who visited the Foreign Office at his own request and met Director General (SA &SAARC). "During the meeting he enquired about the progress being made in the Mumbai trial," Aslam said, adding that the Director General stated the trial was taking its legal course and efforts were being made for its early conclusion.
The spokesperson said that Director General (SA &SAARC) took the opportunity to also enquire about the Samjhauta Express investigations and stated that it was necessary that the outcome of these investigations be shared with Pakistan at the earliest. Earlier, in the morning, Pakistan's deputy high commissioner was summoned to Indian External Affairs Ministry who was lodged a strong protest against the adjournment of the ongoing Mumbai terror attack case trial in Pakistan.
India has been urging Pakistan for a regular trial of the accused in the Mumbai terror attacks while Pakistan is also asking New Delhi to share the investigations into the 2007 Samjhauta Express bombings in which dozens of Pakistanis were killed when terrorists attacked the train service, connecting New Delhi and Lahore.
