ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Engr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had been paying special attention to South Punjab, where it has completed many development projects to address grievances of the people.

South Punjab remained neglected for decades but the PML-N governments, both in Punjab and at the Centre, had allocated funds worth billions of rupees to change the fate of people, he said talking to a private news channel.

He said hospitals, schools and universities were established in south Punjab besides constructing network of roads.

The minister said the PML-N had supported the demand of establishing new provinces on administrative basis and was still firm on that stance. However, two thirds majority in the parliament was needed for legislation for the purpose, he added.

Baligh-Ur-Rehman said the PML-N had also got passed a resolution from the provincial assembly on the subject of new provinces.

He said huge participation of the people in PML-N's public gathering in South Punjab was evidence of the fact that people were supporting its policies.

The PML-N's policies and development works done in South Punjab would be reflected in the decision of its people in general elections, he said.

He said the people could bring real change as they had the right to elect the government for new term.

The minister said constitutional amendments made in dictatorial regimes to bar the politicians from political activities were abolished in the democratic governments.
