KARACHI: Karachi Tax Bar Association (KTBA) has now highlighted two more glitches in an updated version of FBR’s IRIS 2.0.

In its third letter sent to the chairman FBR, the KTBA outlined two more glitches, saying that they are making it difficult or impossible for taxpayers to properly file their taxes or respond to government notices.

It said that this new glitch in the system has emerged recently and is pertained to the inability of the taxpayer to respond to notices issued by IR Officers (IROs) following the modifications of orders in appeal orders by the Commissioner Inland Revenue- Appeals (CIR-A).

Furthermore, KTBA said that after a CIR-A modifies an assessment order, the concerned IRO issues a notice to the taxpayer for further proceedings, for whom there is currently no option available within the IRIS 2.0 to submit his reply or response.

The second glitch limits taxpayers to filing only one rectification application per tax year, regardless of the number of proceedings that may require correction. This restriction handicaps taxpayers undergoing multiple parallel proceedings, the KTBA said and requested for this limitation to be removed.

It said that the issues were discussed in depth during a recent video conference between FBR officials and representatives of the KTBA. While the revenue board agreed to look into resolving the problems, no definite timeline was provided.
