KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 113,254 tonnes of cargo comprising 90,120 tonnes of import cargo and 23,134 tonnes of export cargo during last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 90,120 comprised of 53,505 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 4,876 tonnes of Bulk Cargo & 31,739 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 23,134 tonnes comprised of 8,292 tonnes of containerized Cargo, 192 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 6,280 tonnes of Barite Lumps, 8,118 tonnes of Cement & 252 tonnes of Rice.

Nearly, 4909 containers comprising of 4028 containers import and 881 containers export were handled on Wednesday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 622 of 20’s and 1678 of 40’s loaded while 00 of 20’s and 25 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 146 of 20’s and 116 of 40’s loaded containers while 05 of 20’s and 249 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Only one ship, namely Great Spring has berthed at Karachi Port.

About two ships namely, Kaimon Galaxy & SC Hongkong have sailed at Karachi Port.PORT QASIM

A total of 11 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them four Containers carriers ‘Maersk Denver, MSC Arya III, Olympia and MSC Levina’ left the Port on Wednesday morning, while three more ships, Heilan Journey, Gulf Jumeirah and Damsgaard’ are expected to sail on today.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 135,400tones, comprising 95,105 tones imports cargo and 40,295 tones export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 4,948 Containers (2,839 TEUs Imports and 2,109 TEUs export) was handled at the port.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, two ships, NorstarInvictus and MSC Fairfield & two more ships, X-Press Bardsey and Cussler carrying Gas oil and Containers are expected to take berths at FOTCO and QICT respectively on Wednesday, 29thMarch, while three more ships, OOCL LE Havre, OOCL Washington and APL Southampton with containers are due to arrive at Port Qasim on 30th March-2023.
