KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 160,521 tonnes of cargo comprising 55,655 tonnes of import cargo and 104,866 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 Hours.

The total import cargo of 55,655 comprised of 38,606 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 12,111 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 4,438 tonnes of Chickpeas & 500 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 104,866 tonnes comprised of 57,799 tonnes of containerized Cargo, 798 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 16,431 tonnes of Barite Lumps, 19,688 tonnes of Clinkers & 10,150 tonnes of Oil & Liquid Cargo.

—Nearly, 2737 containers comprising of 1305 containers import and 1432 containers export were handled on Monday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 353 of 20’s and 445 of 40’s loaded while 02 of 20’s and 10 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 513 of 20’s and 113 of 40’s loaded containers while 13 of 20’s and 340 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

Around, 10 ships namely, Hyundai Hongkong, Arman 10, Budapest Express, Global Highway, Apl Antwerp, Northern Guard, Dsm Castor, Kaimon Galaxy, Sc Hongkong and Ophelia I have berthed at Karachi Port.

Approximately, 09 ships namely, Songa Peace, Jolly Vanadio, Ssl Brahmaputra, Hyundai Hongkong, Rdo Endeavour, Global Highway, Budapest Express, Anni Selmer and Apl Antwerp have sailed at Karachi Port.

PORT QASIM

A total of 03 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them an oil tanker ‘Leader’ is expected to sail on today.

Cargo throughput during last 24 hours stood at 102,028 tones, comprising 83,142 tones imports cargo and 18,886 tones export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 596 Containers (323 TEUs Imports and 9,809 TEUs export) was handled at the port.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, two ships, Gulf Jumeirah, and America & another ship, Maersk Boston carrying Mogas and Containers are expected to take berths at FOTCO and QICT respectively on Monday, 27th March-2023, while another containers ship MSC Aria III is due to arrive at Port Qasim on same day and three more container vessels, Maersk Denver, MSC Levina and Olympia are due to arrive on 28th March-2023.
