KARACHI: Sindh Excise & Taxation (E&T) department on Wednesday claimed to have collected Rs51.429 billion during July 2021 to November 2021 period.

According to the details, during the aforesaid period, the department has collected Rs51.42 billion as compared to the collection of Rs36.443 billion made during the last corresponding period.

The department has generated Rs4.414 billion as motor vehicle tax, Rs42.938 billion as infrastructure cess, and Rs394.430 and Rs1248.026 million were collected as professional tax and property tax, respectively. Similarly, Rs103.253 million was collected as cotton fee and Rs11.041 million as entertainment duty.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Kumar Chawla, provincial Excise Minister expressed his satisfaction on the overall situation of tax collection and added that professional and property tax defaulters should be encouraged to deposit taxes. He warned the tax defaulters to deposit their taxes in order to avoid any untoward situation as the department has powers to seal houses, shops or other property for non-payment of taxes.
