ISLAMABAD: Fatima Fertilizer collaborated with Punjab Government's Department of Agriculture and the Agriculture University of Faisalabad (UAF) host Sarsabz Farmer Convention related to wheat cultivation during Rabi 2021-22.

The convention was hosted by UAF Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmed Khan, in the presence of Chief Guest Hussain Jahanian Gardezi, the Provincial Minister for Agriculture, Government of Punjab.

The event was also attended by notable government officials including Secretary Agriculture, Asad Rehman Gilani, Director General Extension of Agriculture, Dr Anjum Ali, as well as, Vice Chancellor of Arid Agricultural University Rawalpindi, Prof Dr Qamar-ul-Zaman, scientists from various agriculture research institutes, officials from other agriculture related institutes and progressive farmers from Faisalabad and Chiniot.

On this occasion, Naseerullah Khan, Head of Technical Services at Fatima Fertilizer Company, appreciated the steps taken by the government to increase wheat production in Punjab and thanked the management of UAF for their cooperation in organizing the event.

He also apprised the farmers about achieving 10 percent surplus yield from the use of Sarsabz NP and CAN fertilizer in comparison to other traditional fertilizers, and also highlighted details about guiding principles of using Sarsabz fertilizers as per the results of soil testing.

He also appreciated the fertilizer related research conducted by Dr Yaseen, who is the Professor of Soil Sciences at UAF, which testified that an additional 15 percent crop yield for wheat can be achieved through the use of NP and CAN fertilizer.

Punjab Agriculture Minister Syed Hussain Jahania Gardezi also emphasized to the farmers to use approved seed varieties by the Agriculture Department so that the upcoming crop of wheat can be protected from all type of crop diseases and its crop yield per acre can be maximized.

On the occasion, the Provincial Minister paid tribute to Fatima Fertilizer for successfully organizing the convention, whose efforts have enabled farmers to learn more about modern wheat cultivation technologies.

The Provincial Minister also apprised the farmers about steps being taken by the Prime Minister under the Agricultural Emergency Program of Pakistan and urged them to adopt modern agricultural technologies in the context to climate change effects.

He called for innovation in agriculture and increase in production per acre, adding that farmers could not only increase wheat production per acre in this way but also assist the government to overcome the current wheat crisis in the country by taking full advantage of the modern methods of cultivation.
