LAHORE: The Punjab government has earmarked a sum of Rs26.4 billion under the head of 'law and order and emergency services' in its Annual Development Programme (ADP) for 2021-22.
Out of the total amount, Rs25.1 billion has been allocated for non-development while merely Rs1.3 billion was earmarked for developmental programmes with a focus on provision of health-related schemes. The budget document says that the Punjab government with a sum of Rs984 million will introduce motorbike ambulance service in remaining 27 districts of the province, followed by provision of air rescue service across Punjab with additional Rs500 million.
Similarly, Rs50 million would be spent on establishment of Community Emergency Response Teams (CERTs) across Punjab and Rs683 million has been proposed for strengthening of emergency services. Moreover, a sum of Rs350 million was proposed for the construction of Child Protection Units (Phase-II) followed by Rs290 million for the installation of Prisons Management Information System (Phase-III) in all jails of Punjab.
