PDM to hold rally in Lahore's Minar-e-Pakistan on Dec 13

  • Rana Sanaullah demands SC to take notice of "politically motivated" cases against him and PML-N leaders
Published November 3, 2020

(Karachi) Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced that it will hold a massive rally at Lahore's Minar-e-Pakistan on December 13, media has reported. The PDM is an alliance of major opposition parties formed to launch campaign against the government.

Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Tuesday, PML-N leader Rana Sanaullah said that a meeting was called today to discuss the December 13 public meeting, which he said, would be a referendum against “incapable and incompetent” rulers. The event would prove that Lahore has awakened, after which entire Punjab and Pakistan would awaken, he said.

A committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of Pervez Malik which would be responsible for taking care of arrangements for the rally, he said.

He said that reshuffling portfolios of few ministers will not affect the movement of the opposition.

He added that PDM's public gathering in Lahore will compel the present government to pack its bag and go home.

Regarding narcotics case against him, Sanaullah maintained that the judge who was about to acquit him in the case was transferred through a Whatsapp message. He demanded of the Supreme Court Chief Justice to take notice of the matter.

The PML-N leader also announced that the PML-N will approach the top court to submit an application in this regard. He stated they will also stage a peaceful protest outside the SC building.

Rana Sanaullah said that the narcotics case against him is politically motivated. He demanded that cases against the PML-N leaders are based on "political revenge" and should be dismissed.

He predicted that cases and NAB references against opposition leaders will soon be withdrawn. A time will come when the corruption watchdog would admit in courts that these cases are politically motivated, he pointed out.
