ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Tuesday that he would continue to support the people of Kashmir to achieve the right of self-determination as promised to them by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), while asking Indian government to hold a referendum to know with whom the people the IIOK wanted to live.

In his televised message on Black Day of Kashmir, the Prime Minister said October 27 was the black day because 72 years ago on 1947 Indian forces entered Kashmir, and subsequently their then prime minister went to the United Nations.

Prime Minister Khan said t the UN Security Council gave a decision that the people of Kashmir would be given the right of self-determination to decide whether they wanted to live with India or Pakistan. However, since then, he said that right was not given to the people of Kashmir and false promises were made, and rigged election some 30 years propelled the people on street.

They were massacred by India, added Prime Minister Khan. The Prime Minister said so far in the freedom movement of Kashmir over hundred thousand people had been martyred, and instead that the world, people of India or Indian political parties should have taken notice, Indian Prime Minister Modi, after victory in election, imposed curfew on Kashmir and usurped basic rights of the people of Kashmir.

"Till today, no one knows about the state of the people of Kashmir," the PM said.

"I wanted to give message to the people of Kashmir that entire Pakistan supports them, and I have informed Western leaders including President Trump about the plight of the people of Kashmir. Pakistan will support Kashmiris at all forums," added the prime minister.

He said he wanted to give a special message to the people of the country that some people had been making statements about Jihad or sending army. He said that such statements were in fact trying to harm the country because Modi government wanted to hold Pakistan responsible before the world with the objective to cover up their brutalities and violation in occupied Kashmir through over nine lakh army in the IIOK.

"We have to support Kashmir politically and diplomatically," he said, adding he would be their spokesman.

APP adds: Prime Minister Imran Khan said Pakistan was ready to hold peace talks with India provided the latter ended military siege in Jammu and Kashmir and agreed for a plebiscite in the Valley as per the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

"To India, I say that we are ready, but you have to end military siege in Kashmir and give Kashmiris their right to self-determination," the prime minister said in his special televised video message in connection with Kashmir Black Day.
