Pompeo, Japan's Suga shared understanding that regional situation is severe

TOKYO: US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga spoke on Tuesday and shared an understanding that the situation in the region was increasingly severe, the Japanese government said in a statement.

Pompeo, who is in Tokyo for a one-day visit, also told the prime minister he fully supports holding the Tokyo Olympics next year, the government said.
