At least five persons including an activist of Awami National Party and a woman were killed in separate incidents in various parts of the metropolis here on Saturday. According to details, an activist of ANP was shot dead in the precincts of Shah Latif police station.
The incident took place at Jam Kanda Goth Tariq Charhyi when unidentified men threw a body from a car and ran away. On being informed, the police rushed on the spot and recovered a body, which was later identified as Abdul Aziz son of Abdul Majeed.
Police said the victim, who had several torture marks, received multiple bullets. The body was transported to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal formalities. Meanwhile, the spokesman of ANP Sindh Qadir Khan claimed that the victim was kidnapped from Korangi area on the early hours of Saturday, was the active worker of Dalmia Ward and demanded to the government to arrest the culprits who involved in his murder.
A pregnant woman was shot dead while her husband sustained bullet wounds within the limits of Baldia police station. The incident took place at Chandni Chowk Tipu Sultan Road where two armed men barged in a house and opened indiscriminate firing on the couple.
Resultantly, a 22-year-old Ameera Bibi wife of Rehman died on the spot, while her husband sustained bullet wounds. The body of woman was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico legal formalities along with her injured husband for treatment.
Police said the victims, who used to live in Baldia Town, eloped a year ago and got freewill marriage, adding that the victim Ameera belonged to Barohi tribe while Rehman was from south Punjab. They said the victim Rehman gave statement that his father-in-law Majeed and his brother Khadim involved in this crime. A case was registered against Majeed and Khadim on the complaint of Rehman.
An old man was killed by stray bullet in Shah Nawaz Bhutto Colony in the remits of Brigade police station. A 68-year-old Hassan son of Nusrat Mohani received single stray bullet and died on the spot. The body was shifted to CHK for legal formalities, where his family took him away without completing legal formalities.
A doctor was crushed to death near Ahsanabad Super Highway in the limits of Sohrab Goth police station. The victim 26-year-old Doctor Nasir son of Siraj Khan, a resident of Ayub Goth was hit by speedy dumper while crossing a road. The responsible driver managed to flee and the dumper was torched by unidentified miscreants. Police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. A case was registered against the responsible driver. Yet another man was crushed to death in Ayub Goth market in the jurisdiction of Sohrab Goth police station.
The victim, who was later identified as 35-year-old Imam Deen son of Ponal, a resident of Laasi Goth, was knocked by a speedy vehicle while crossing a road. Resultantly he died on the spot. The body was shifted to ASH for legal formalities. No case was registered till the filing of this report.
