The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) and other traders and industrial associations have welcomed Punjab budget for 2011-12 and termed it a step towards achieving self-reliance and prosperity.
The PIAF Chairman, Sohail Lashari, Chairman of Auto-parts Manufacturers and Exporters Association Tahir Javed Malik, and Chairman of Lahore Township Industries Association Haroon Shafiq appreciated the Punjab government for allocation of Rs 9 billion for power projects of 500 mw. "It is a good omen for the business community of the province as huge load shedding has crippled the industrial activities," they said. The announced power projects would provide relief to the industrial sector of Punjab, they added, and urged the Punjab government to ensure early completion of these power projects.
They also asked the Punjab government to declare the current financial 'Year of Power Generation' so that availability of cheap and adequate electricity could be ensured for the industry. They said that self-assessment scheme for property tax would provide relief to the taxpayers and would also help to decrease the menace of corruption. They said that announcement of conducting audit of government organisations would help increase efficiency of government employees.
The associations' representatives welcomed the Punjab Rozgar Scheme and termed it a visionary step of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. They said that the scheme would decrease the rate of unemployment.
They said that allocation of Rs 2 billion for enhancing exports and preservation of fruits and vegetable would strengthen the agriculture sector as by exporting fruits and vegetables the farmers would be getting better return of his yield. They also hailed the decisions of establishment of new industrial city along the Motorway, austerity drive and focus on southern Punjab.
