The Parliamentary Committee on National Security Wednesday said it would not allow foreign forces to violate the territorial integrity of Pakistan. After the committee meeting, Mian Raza Rabbani told media, "we will not allow boots on ground. We will not allow at any cost violation of the sovereignty of Pakistan," he said.
He said today, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi gave detailed briefing to the committee on its 31 recommendations. He said the committee had 31 recommendations for the Foreign Ministry to be implemented. He said the committee requested the ministry to submit this briefing in writing for record.
He said the committee also reviewed the transcript of the statement of US Defence Secretary Robert Gates. We did not notice anything in his statement against Pakistan, he added.
Rabbani said that on Wednesday the committee also reviewed the proposals submitted by various academics, civil society activists, journalists and people from different schools of thoughts. Answering a question, he said the statement of British Prime Minister David Cameron is against the ground realities. He said the British Prime Minister should not have given this statement on the Indian soil. He said his statement is insensitive, one-sided, conservative and biased.
"If the British Prime Minister had open talk, he should have talked about Indian brutal human rights violations in occupied Kashmir," he said. He said Pakistan is not exporting terrorism. He said Pakistan is a frontline state against war on terror. Pakistan military, civil society and people have sacrificed thousands of lives in this war. The economy of Pakistan is suffering from the backlash of terrorism, he said. Rabbani said the next meeting of the committee would be held on August 9-10.
