ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has enhanced its security measures in view of Special bench's verdict on a set of pleas of those dysfunctional judges who took oath under annulled constitutional provisional order of 2007 in defiance of restraining order and also framing of contempt of court charges by another four-member bench on Monday.

The special bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Amir Hani Muslim will conduct proceedings upon pleas of dysfunctional judges of the superior judiciary.

While another four-member bench Justice Shahid Siddiqui, Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja, Justice Khilji Arif Hussain and Justice Tariq Pervez will formerly indict de-seated and retired judges under contempt of court charges who had challenged issuance of show-cause notices upon them.

The said bench had already decided their appeals on February 2 and held that the judges could be proceeded under contempt of court issue.

Sensing the significance of proceedings which would go a long way in the judiciary history of the country, entries into the Court Room No: 1 of Special bench and Court Room No: 5 of four-member bench with effect from 21 February would be regulated through passes.

In this regard, passes will be issued to the petitioners, respondents, their counsels appearing before the Court. Besides, the entry of the journalists who regularly cover Supreme Court proceedings will also be made through passes.

In case of any additional demand for journalists' entry, request can be made to the Additional Registrar Supreme Court.

For those interested in hearing of the cases, passes will be issued subject to keeping in view of the seating capacity. Entry into Court building will be allowed after checking/frisking and searching of bags/purses, etc. Carrying of cell phones is also banned inside courtrooms.
