ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday said that the government has provided complete autonomy to public institutions to ensure merit, transparency and service delivery - a precondition for good governance.

Talking to Chairman of Federal Public Service Commission Justice Rana Bhagwan Das and Secretary Establishment here at the PM House he said it was for the first time in history that the government has not interfered in promotion process and only those officers were promoted, who were recommended by the Central Selection Board.

The Prime Minister appreciated the Chairman of the FPSC for upholding merit. He assured his government's complete support to further empower FPSC to play its due role in the selection of capable civil servants.

The Chairman thanked the Prime Minister for his government's full support to the FPSC. He discussed matters regarding filling of vacant posts of members FPSC and budget-related issues of the Commission.
