Security forces have secured important areas in Mingora city where street battles continued on Sunday that left 10 militants killed. Three security personnel embraced Shahdat and six were injured, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR). In the heavy exchange of fire, the security forces also arrested 14 militants from different areas.
They have also spotted the dump nicknamed as "bloody intersection" where the militants used to dump mutilated bodies. In Mingora, according to the ISPR, the troops have secured important areas that included Wattakai Chowk, Nawakilli Chowk, Nishat Chowk, Sirafe Chowk, Gulshan Chowk, Green Chowk, Haji Baba Chowk and Sohrab Chowk. This is considered to be an important development which will facilitate the military operation in days to come.
According to details, five terrorists were killed in various areas of Mingora city while 14 miscreants have been arrested by the Security forces. During the process of expansion security forces encountered 12 IEDs; 4 were defused. After surrounding the Peochar Valley, Security forces have entered the Piochar village. There were some unconfirmed reports that troops have got control of the strategically important valley. The ISPR, however, said that during search and cordon operation huge cache of arms have been recovered from miscreant's hideouts along with an extensive factory of making bombs/ IEDs. The people of Peochar are co-operating with security forces.
The ISPR also said that on the report of presence of miscreants at Malam Jabba, the troops launched a swift operation. During clashes five miscreants-terrorists were killed. Their bodies are lying alongside the road. Curfew has been relaxed in Matta and Khawazakhela from 9 am to 4 pm Sunday.
RELIEF ACTIVITIES:
As many as 15 trucks loaded with relief items dispatched by Armed Forces at Khawazakhela have reached Madian, Bahrain and Kalam. The relief goods contain eatables for the stranded people of the area. Meanwhile Special Support Group has also dispatched relief goods (eatables/medicines) to the stranded people of Madian, Kalam and surrounding areas.
According to the ISPR, 50 tons of rations have been distributed on Sunday by Army to the IDPs. So far Army has donated 510 tons of rations out of its daily quota. Donated items included atta, daal, sugar and ghee. The ration is daily consumed by over 80,000 IDPs. 5 trucks-load of rations and non food items were distributed among 26383 off camp IDPs of Garhi Kapoora, 6 Union Councils of Tehsil Takhtaband. Army troops also co-ordinated the provision of relief goods to the orphans of Swat residing in an orphanage at Peshawar.
