Federal Information Minister Sherry Rehman has said that the government respects all democratic forces and has ensured supremacy of parliament. Talking to journalists outside Parliament on Wednesday, she said that PPP has never taken undemocratic steps to stop any person to become member of National Assembly.
Replying to a question, she said parliament is supreme and therefore, can legislate on issues of public importance. Replying to a question that PML-N is tabling a bill in the parliament to repeal the 17th Amendment, she said, the government has already forwarded its own draft bill to PML-N, which included many amendments to the Constitution. "Nawaz Sharif is most welcome to raise matters in the Parliament which is the supreme body to legislate," she said.
Sherry said the government has taken onboard all the political forces on all important issues, adding even Prime Minister and President have convened all parties conferences to evolve consensus on issues of national interest. She said in this critical time we all should think about welfare of the country, adding issues can easily be solved through dialogue process.
