Aleem Dar, regarded as one of the best umpires in the cricketing world surprised many, after he was seen spotting a full grown beard during the ICC Champions Trophy warm-up match between India and New Zealand.
The Pakistani umpire, has remain clean shaved for much of his career, revealed that it was South Africa cricketer Hashim Amla who asked him to grow his beard in the traditional Islamic way.
Talking to PTV, Dar said he was thinking about growing a beard and Hashim Amla’s advice helped him to make up his mind.
Amla, hailed as one of the finest batsmen on the circuit also boosts one of the best-looking beards of the game, and is highly regarded for his composure and relax temperament both on and off the field.
