Major stock markets outside the United States ended on Friday.
EUROPE STOCKS EXCHANGE: European stocks ended Friday's session a touch higher as lacklustre banking stocks were offset by gains in miners and oil producers as worries about Iran helped nudge crude higher.
Among major movers, Lloyds TSB sank after analysts said its rate of revenue growth had slowed, despite the bank meeting its earnings forecast, while Germany's RWE edged higher after its results beat analysts' forecasts. The FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares closed up 0.2 percent at 1,543.71 points, ending broadly flat for the week.
FRANKFURT STOCKS EXCHANGE: The DAX index ended at 6992.58 points, up 18.85 or 0.27 percent and 35.51 points better off in the week.
PARIS STOCKS EXCHANGE: The CAC-40 index closed at 5716.38 points, up 8.52 or 0.15 percent on the day, adding just 2.79 points in the week.
ZURICH STOCKS EXCHANGE: The Swiss market index closed at 9258.05 points, up 6.25 or 0.07 percent, but down on the week by 78.29 points.
MILAN STOCKS EXCHANGE: The All Share Mibtel index closed at 32982 points, up 20 or 0.06 percent on the day but losing 198 points since last Friday.
SYDNEY STOCKS EXCHANGE: Shares rose 0.32 percent to set a second straight record closing peak, lifted by sharp gains in Coles Group on take-over hopes and in QBE Insurance Group after strong earnings.
The S&P/ASX 200 index added 19.0 points to 6,036.1, erasing its previous record close of 6,017.1 reached on Thursday though off a lifetime high of 6,052.1 during the session. The index rose 82.4 points on the week.
JOHANNESBURG STOCKS EXCHANGE: South African gold and platinum shares boosted the market due to rising security concerns, higher oil prices and inflation worries, while Steinhoff starred on a bullish profit outlook. The All-share index climbed 0.35 percent to 26,792.39 points, adding 94.69 points on the day and 281.31 since last weekend.
The All Gold index closed at 2,893.13 points, up 50.11 or 1.76 percent, gaining 84.58 points since last Friday. The Industrial index closed at 18,846.78 points, down 28.58 or 0.15 percent, shedding 82.18 points over the week.
