Chief Executive, Technology Exchange and Co-ordination (Pvt) Limited, Rana Saddiqi-ur Rehman has stressed the need for evolving comprehensive sector-wise economic strategy with China. Delivering a lecture at the Economics Department of the GC University, Lahore, on Friday.
Rehman gave a presentation covering various aspects of the real economy and economic strategy with China. He discussed the knowledge-based economy, industrialisation and Pak-China economic strategies.
He argued that Pakistan's economy had two major challenges; unemployment and trade deficit. He said real problem of Pakistan's economy lies in transferring the funds from parallel economy to real economy.
"We need a fast track, wide spread development of industry, agriculture and knowledge economy", Rana asserted. He said that the nations make fast economic development by keeping their national interest prime and by putting the economy on feasible economic track.
He also elaborated that lack of skilled labour, hidden expenses, law and order situation and competitiveness vis-à-vis China and India, were main hurdles in the economy. He called for strengthening the trade bodies.
GC University Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr Khalid Aftab thanked Rana Saddiq-ur Rehman for his productive lecture. He said Chinese economy was a success story as it was an emerging global potential economy with a lot of competitiveness in its products with the countries of region and the world at large.
