imageChief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has invited Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao to visit Karachi. Pacquiao, hailed as one of the best boxers in the game, would provide guidance and encouragement to the amateur boxers of Lyari.

Shah extended this invitation while meeting with the Philippines Ambassador to Pakistan Daniel Ramos Espiritu at CM House on Tuesday.

Pacquiao, who has been holding the WBO and lineal welterweight titles since 2016, is currently in his third reign as WBO welterweight champion.

Philippines ambassador informed that Pacquiao will be the state guest of the Sindh government in upcoming three months and he will visit Lyari.

Lyari, the oldest town of Karachi is recognised as one of the hotspots of sports in the city, and has produced international athletes in boxing and football. Shah said that the youth of Lyari have vast potential in sports, particularly football and boxing.

The Philippines has the honour to have produced world-famous boxers like Manny Pacquiao. I request you to arrange Pacquiaos visit to Karachi so that our amateur boxers in Lyari could have a chance to meet the star boxer, he said, adding that his visit would encourage young boxers in Karachi.

Pacquiao is considered to be one of the greatest boxers of all time as he is the first and only eight-division world champion having won eleven major world titles, as well as being the first boxer to win the lineal championship in five different weight classes.
