imagePESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said police had been depoliticized and converted into an independent, autonomous force by introducing drastic reforms in police force.

This he said while chairing a meeting of the select committee on Police Bill 2016 at Assembly Secretariat on Tuesday.

Provincial Ministers Sikandar Sherpao, Inayatullah Khan, Imtiaz Shahid Qureshi, Shah Farman, Advisor to CM Mushtaq Ghani, Deputy Speaker Provincial Assembly Dr. Mahr Taj Roghani, Opposition Leader Luffur Rahman, MPAs, Fakhre Azam Wazir, Sahaibzada Sanaullah, Mahmood Ahmad Bitani, Sardar Hussain Babak, Noor Saleem Malik, Nighat Orakzai, Amna Sardar, Gul Sahib Khan Khattak, Bakht Baidar, Advocate General and other concerned authorities attended the meeting.

The chief minister said the basic objective of legislations and reforms was to strengthen institutions, bring transparency in the system.

We want to take along opposition in the whole process of legislations and reforms to ensure continuity in the system for the well being and welfare of the masses.

We fully honour and respect the view point of the opposition and their valuable suggestions will be incorporated while introducing reforms and legislations.

The chief minister added that we all should make collective and coordinated efforts keeping in view our national interest.

We have set a tradition of consensus and never bulldoze the viewpoint of opposition.

Our sole objective should be to put the system on right track.

This was our manifesto and with sincere and collective efforts we would be able to remove loopholes in the system and make it foolproof and result oriented, he added.
