imageSTOKE-ON-TRENT: Salomon Rondon grabbed a last-gasp equaliser as West Bromwich Albion marked Tony Pulis's 1,000th game as a manager with a 1-1 draw at Stoke City on Saturday.

Baggies boss Pulis was on the brink of a frustrating defeat against his former club in his milestone match after Joe Allen gave Stoke the lead in the second half.

But, just as Mark Hughes's side looked set to claim a first league win of the season, Venezuela forward Rondon struck in stoppage time.

It made for a satisfying conclusion for Pulis, who is still yet to lose against his former employers in five meetings, while the pressure continues to mount on his successor Hughes.

Stoke fans showed their appreciation for Pulis just before kick-off as they gave him a warm reception as he emerged from the tunnel, with the 58-year-old clapping back and waving to all sides of the ground.

In a drab first half, Stoke came closest to scoring in the 25th minute when Glen Johnson lifted the ball over Ben Foster and Craig Dawson did well to head it away.

The hosts applied more pressure as the second half got under way, with Allen's header being deflected over by Dawson and Ryan Shawcross nodding a corner wide at the back post.

Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant, making his Premier League debut, palmed away a curling shot from Nacer Chadli, before Potters substitute Peter Crouch prodded narrowly wide.

The hosts made the breakthrough in the 73rd minute when Xherdan Shaqiri crossed and Albion defender Jonny Evans headed an attempted clearance straight to Wales midfielder Allen, who fired home from close range.

Grant made a fine save to keep out James McClean's header.

But Albion kept pressing and Pulis was finally able to celebrate in the first minute of stoppage time when Rondon nodded home from a corner.
