Government of Punjab has declared six districts of the province - Multan, Sargodha, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Gujranwala to be the most sensitive areas during the local council elections and decided to call the troops for the assistance of administration in maintaining law and order.
"Army will arrive in these sensitive districts on August 10, as the Government has decided to call troops and requisitioned military to maintain law and order during the local bodies polls," Punjab Home Secretary, Hassan Wasim Afzal told the Deputy Inspector Generals of these ranges.
Police and Punjab Constabulary personnel would also be deployed at the polling stations in the province, however in case of law and order deterioration at any polling station or its surrounding area, the military would take the charge, provincial home secretary said.
The situation in remaining 29 districts of the province was under control and troops were not called for those districts, he said, however if needed troops would be called in any district.
