The executive committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on Saturday decided to hold annual elections of the association on October 22, according to rules of the association.
According to a press release issued by the secretary of the association, Abdul Sadiq Chaudhry here on Saturday, the committee also finalised schedule for the forthcoming elections in the meeting.
President of the association, Qazi Muhammad Jamil presided over the meeting and was attended by majority members of the executive committee. The committee decided to host reception in honour of the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in the second week of September.
The committee also decided to hold an international seminar on "War on Terrorism and Rule of Law". Delegates from various countries will be invited to participate in the seminar, the press release said.
Participants of the meeting also discussed matters relating to allotment of plots for residences as well as chambers of lawyers of the apex court.
Earlier, members of the executive committee of the association also held a meeting with Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and discussed matters pertaining to lawyers of the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice assured them to resolve problems being faced by lawyers on priority.
