The City District Government Lahore (CDGL) on Wednesday launched crackdown against profit hunters and also started campaign for removal of encroachments from various markets of the provincial metropolis.
The raiding squad confiscated 470 different articles including carts and kiosks lying outside the markets' shops while FIRs have been registered against 39 butchers in areas of Mozang, Islampura, Ghalib Market, Qila Gujar Singh, Nawankot, Data Nagar, Liaquatabad and Township for selling chicken meat above the prescribed rates.
The operation against encroachment was launched in the areas of Mall Road, Chauburji, Bedon Road, Bahawalpur Road, Lawrence Road, Bund Road, Karim Park, Sanat Nagar, General Bus Stand, Lower Mall, Dev Samaj Road, Tajpura, Chowk Township and Katch Jail Road, Township.
Meanwhile, the food squad checked over 110 various restaurants and collected 215 samples of eatable items for laboratory analysis. The crockery and deep freezers were found in unsatisfactory condition. The squad also challenged 137 restaurants on account of unhygienic condition and unsatisfactory cleanliness in and around the restaurants.
