The Bank of Khyber (BoK) has started 'online banking' in its branches in Peshawar, Islamabad and Karachi, and would extend it to all other branches before the end of the current month, Managing Director Qazi Munir-ul-Haq told Business Recorder on Wednesday.
The bank, he said, has achieved the milestone with minimum cost and would go a long way in minimising the problems regarding money transfer of the depositors. "The bank has a network of 29 branches and the facility would be extended to all branches before August 31," he added.
He said that the bank would install automatic teller machines (ATMs) in its two branches at G T Road, Peshawar, and Islamabad. He said that the facility would be available shortly.
Munir said that the deposits of the bank had increased by Rs 261 million during the later half of last financial year. Assets of the bank are also showing upward trend and during last six months they had touched Rs 22.544 billion. Islamic Banking Division (IBD) has also shown remarkable increase and earned Rs 15 million, he added.
Qazi said that for introduction of comprehensive Islamic banking, BoK is holding negotiations with International Islamic University (IIU).
