As many as 1894 four-wheelers were snatched/stolen in January-July, 2005 period, against 2207 snatching/theft incidents during the same period of 2004. According to police, some 782 four wheelers were snatched and 1112 were stolen in the seven months, while 1148 four wheelers were snatched and 1059 were stolen during the same period in the year 2004.
The police said that there was 14 percent decrease in four wheeler snatching/theft cases this year as compared with the same period of last year.
In the same way, the incidents of two wheelers snatching/theft cases decreased by 26 percent as 2932 two wheelers were snatched/stolen during the first seven months of 2005 against 3933 two wheelers snatched/stolen in the same period in 2004.
Police said that 1272 two wheelers were snatched and 1660 were stolen during the first seven months from January to July 2005 while 1703 two wheelers were snatched and 2230 were stolen in the same period in 2004.
According to police sources, the Anti-Car Lifting Cell, Capital City Police Karachi, is busy to curb this crime in the city. Police has appealed to the citizens to immediately inform on Phone '15' in case of any such incident so that police could take action against outlaws in time.
