The NWFP Senior Minister Siraj-ul-Haq has directed the Revenue Department to expedite work on computerisation of Patwar Khanas, circles and land records as well as command on IT for all revenue officials including Patwaries must be made essential to enable them deliver to the masses rather than adding to their miseries like past.
He was presiding over a meeting at his office Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Saturday wherein matters regarding improving lot of Patwar Khanas, capacity building of revenue staff and computerisation of land records were taken into stock and necessary decisions taken.
The meeting besides Provincial Finance Secretary Ziaur Rehman, Additional Finance Secretary Ahmad Hanif Aurakzai, Senior Member Board of Revenue Wakil Khan Afridi, DCOs and DROs from certain districts was attended by the other concerned authorities.
It was decided on this occasion that Patwaries and other revenue officials would compulsorily have to learn in computer literacy, graphics, maps and software programming while IT expertise in all such concerns would be made essential part of their qualification and experience for future appointments.
It was also directed to rename the post of Patwari with record supervisor or record programmer and consider upgradation of their scales or providing allowances for more encouragement.
In order to streamline and accelerate the process of computerisation of land records and land settlements, it was decided to convene another meeting comprising authorities of revenue, finance and IT department.
The Senior Minister while asking for prompt and result oriented steps in this respect, said that every move for this purpose must not be just to create more posts and enhance expenditures but with the sole aim of providing relief and facilitation to the masses at all costs.
He said only those rulers and authorities should remain in government who cared for national and public interests otherwise they must quit for homes instead of becoming burdon on national exchequer.
He expressed the hope that authorities would make NWFP a role model for entire country by excelling in computerisation of land records and land settlements. "We must adopt the culture of pioneering in all sectors instead of expecting from or giving examples of others", he concluded.
