The ministry of communications has submitted a summary for the increase in pay scale and commission of the Pakistan Post Office (PPO) employees to the Prime Minister for approval. This was stated by the Minister for Communications Shamim Siddiqui while speaking after inauguration ceremony of renovated post office here at Liaquat Market Malir, on Saturday.
The postal services have improved and six post-malls will be established, he said, adding foundation stone of first mall would be laid down at Hyderi area on August 6.
"The proposal is for revision of salary scales including pay plus commission which will be implemented after Prime Minister's approval," he added.
The minister said Pakistan Post management was making efforts to upgrade and provide better services to their customers.
He pointed out that 500 motorcycles would be provided initially to those post office employees who have completed five years of service and have a clean service record.
On the occasion, Pakistan Postal Services Management Board Chairman Major General Agha Masood Hassan (Retd) said at present six General Post Offices (GPOs) are running in Karachi and computerisation of five GPOs will be completed in October.
The quantum of GPOs will be increased to one dozen in the city in about one year period, he added.-PR
