The Supreme Court here on Saturday stayed the forced ejection of landowners, by Enforcement Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA), from Sector E-12. The division bench comprising Justice Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi and Justice M Javed Buttar barred the CDA from launching any operation to remove the affectees from E-12 till July 29.
Asghar Hussain Sabzwari, Advocate, appeared on behalf of the affectees. Talking to Business Recorder on telephone, Asghar said that though the division bench did not accept the application but clubbed it with two identical writ petitions filed in the Lahore High Court (LHC), Rawalpindi bench, by affectees and Pir of Golra to be heard on July 29.
CDA had pledged to provide alternative land and residential plots to the affectees of E-12 against possession of the acquired land but implementation on several cases is pending, he added.
Director, Enforcement and Anti-encroachment, CDA, Mohammad Sarwar Sindhu said that the squad was ready to get possession of about 72 kanals land in E-12, but faced stiff resistance from the affectees.
Some influentials of Golra Village were allotted 72 kanals land in E-12 Sector but CDA failed to hand over physical possession to the allottees, against their 119 kanal land in E-11 Sector near Golra as compensation, he said.
