The Cabinet on Wednesday may approve the long-awaited draft of 'Anti-Money Laundering Bill 2005', and some amendments in the 'ECO Trade Agreement', official sources told Business Recorder. They said that the Cabinet would deliberate on national environment policy, national forest policy, besides reviewing national sports policy and its implementation.
Ratification of the treaty of friendship co-operation and good-neighbouring relations between Pakistan and China, ratification of the agreement signed between Pakistan and Brazil, ratification of agreement between Pakistan and Azerbaijan are also on the agenda.
The Revenue Division has proposed ratification of agreements between Pakistan and Kyrgyzistan and Pakistan and China on co-operation and mutual assistance in customs matters. CBR has sought permission to start negotiations, in principle, on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for methodological and informative co-operation in customs statistics of foreign trade between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
According to sources, CBR has also sought permission to start negotiations on agreements for bilateral customs co-operation between Pakistan and other countries.
The Ministry of Interior has submitted a MoU on 'managed immigration' between Pakistan and United Kingdom (UK) for approval, according to which Pakistanis residing illegally in England would be deported to Pakistan. The government, however, hopes that the pact would increase the country's trade with UK.
The Cabinet would also consider a draft of 'Carriage of Goods by Road (Liabilities) Bill 2005' recommended by Ministry of Communications.
The Cabinet would also review its decision of July 3, 2002, regarding privatisation of 50-bed kidney centre hospital at Landhi, Karachi.
