The mainstream Saudi electronic media accorded prominent coverage to President General Pervez Musharraf's meeting with Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz that took place in Riyadh. Apart from leading channels Saudi One and Two and Al-Akhbaria, leading English language paper Arab News and the Saudi Gazette also covered the President's talks comprehensively, splashing pictures on their front pages.
In its report, the Arab News said the two leaders held key talks on restructuring of the Organisation of Islamic Conference. They also discussed counter-terror efforts.
President Musharraf also highlighted the tremendous trade and investment opportunities existing between the two countries and said these should be availed to the mutual benefit.
The Pakistani leader performed Umrah late Saturday evening, where the doors of Baitullah were specially opened for him. Special prayers were offered for the progress, prosperity and well-being of the Pakistani nation and the solidarity of the Muslim Ummah.
Urdu News, a widely-circulated paper of the Pakistani origin, carried an exclusive interview of the President in which he dwelt on a wide-range of regional and global issues. In Riyadh, the Crown Prince received President Musharraf upon his arrival in a gesture of warm and close ties between the two brotherly countries and also hosted a luncheon reception for him.
