Farzana Rehman, chairperson of Ladies' Forum of the All Pakistan Women Association, was honoured at a simple but an impressive evening here on Thursday. The colourful function was organised by stage shows committee of the Arts Council and largely attended by the print and electronic media people. The function was presided over by S H Hashmi. Provincial Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Qamar Mansoor, who was the chief guest on the occasion, highly appreciated the role of Farzana Rehman as a chairperson of the Apwa's Women Forum.
He said that she was instrumental in making the women aware of their role in fight against all discriminations in the society.
He said that due to her strong commitment with the Association and working women, she had managed to make a platform, where women gather to discuss their problems.
He criticised those, who believe women should keep shut their mouths and try to adjust themselves in the society.
Why should they (women) act like animals, he asked and emphasised that the women should be treated like civilised people in this technology age, because they are human beings.
"We feel very proud that the world should call us cultured people, are we capable for this status?" he asked. "We have to change our minds to win the challenges in the coming days," he observed.
