The NWFP Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani has said the provincial government would make legislation at assembly floors to give legal cover to the new industrial policy and incentives for industrial units and investment in frontier province. He was addressing to the industrialists at a luncheon held at Industrial Estate Hayatabad Peshawar on Thursday. Provincial Minister for Industries Zafar Azam, Senator Ilyas Bilour and Malik Niaz also addressed the gathering.
Provincial Minister for Food and others among others attended.
He said, his government aimed at setting the province on industrial lines, which was necessary for economic development. Government had exempted arrears of Rs 170 million before evolving the industrial policy adding that such exemptions would also be given in future.
He assured industrialists that a meeting regarding wheeling charges of electricity with NIPRA and WAPDA would be convened to seek solution in this respect. Similarly, he would also arrange a meeting of industrialists and investors with Prime Minister.
Durrani said that education was the top priority of his government. Free books were being provided to female-students upto Matric. More educational institutions were being set up in the province to make up the current deficiency. Setting up of two-degree colleges for boys and girls at Hayatabad was underway, he told.
About the law and order situation, Durrani said that frontier province was more peaceful than other parts of the country.
